Video game companies Jam City and Portkey Games recently released a new trailer for their upcoming mobile game "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery." Fans of the "Harry Potter" movie franchise will soon receive their Hogwarts letters and embark on a magical adventure.
The mobile game is slated for a 2018 release for both iOS and Android smartphones. The trailer opens with Albus Dumbledore's famous quote, "It is not our abilities that show what we truly are; it is our choices." Little fragments of the game's gameplay are featured in the teaser, including Magical Duel. Well-known Hogwarts teachers are also included in the video such as Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, and Hogwarts Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall.
"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" allows players to create their own wizard or witch avatar to represent themselves as Hogwarts students. Players then attend different classes, learn spells, and master other magical skills.
According to the game's official description, "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student." Players will progress throughout the game by developing their skills and knowledge as wizards and witches.
There are no information on how players will be sorted out throughout the houses. Whether the game will allow players to choose or just like in the movies, the Sorting Hat will have the final say. The trailer also does not mention anything about the game's storyline and if other iconic Harry Potter characters will be included like Harry Potter himself.
"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" is not the only mobile game inspired by the "Harry Potter" franchise coming out this year. People all over the world are also looking forward to the augmented reality application game "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite." The year 2018 is a big one for "Harry Potter's" video game franchise, and millions of fans are waiting for the release of "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" in November.
