Remaining with God

"Nevertheless I am continually with Thee" (Psalm 73:23)

There are times we feel down. Isn't it?

Is this an uncommon feeling? We suddenly realised we have let down God and we feel we have let down ourselves. This feeling of pain. The path of faith is not always one of joy...

Yet nevertheless, David's prayer to God remained one of conviction - 'I am still with Thee'. I am still in Love with You.

In this way, if we can also have this conviction, the blessing of being constantly in His presense is ours. Even though we may become fully concious of our sins, and insufficiencies and problems, if we could sing gloriously "I am continually with Thee", then the inheritance of God's History is ours.

If we should enter into Asaphs' confession, our endevour should be to remain like David and say "Nevertheless, since I belong to Christ I am continually with God!"

There are these times we can realise this, we are the Canaanite Woman who was told by Jesus she could not be blessed, but still holding on to God, and in this way, realising that God is waiting for us to lower ourselves...

He is always thinking of me. He never sleeps but watches over me. So that his hand shall be able to pluck me out of my misery.

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death,
(Song of Songs 8:6)

Continually on His heart, Charles Spurgeon was able to realise this and confess "Thou always thinkest of me, O God. The bowels of Thy love continually yearn towards me."

"Nevertheless I am continually with Thee."

Let us hold on to this as we go forth this week.
