'Essential' new training programme at DEVOTION...

At Devotion, ALOVE will be launching ‘Essential’ a new training course. It’s aim? To help young people go deeper in discipleship and get involved in mission within a local Salvation Army placement. Here, Phil Ball (ALOVE’s Training Programme Manager), and Carrie Cummings (ALOVE’s Personal Development & Training Coordinator) tell all about the new Essential programme.

What are your roles at ALOVE?

Phil: I’m ALOVE’s Training Programme Manager and I provide oversight and management of Essential, with specific responsibility for developing Essential mission team training placements throughout the UK Territory.

Carrie: I am ALOVE's Personal Development & Training Co-ordinator, which basically means I look after Essential1 including all our recruitment, the day-to-day operations of the programme, and the development of our trainees as individuals and as a team.

What is Essential?

Phil: Essential is a new discipleship and mission training course for young people who want to invest their lives in frontline evangelism, prayer and service. We recognise that living out faith requires daily commitment and intention. Our aim is that Essential will equip young people with the tools they’ll need to pursue discipleship and mission throughout their lives; to help them live beyond the boundaries of a ‘9-5 Christianity’.
