'Doom' release date for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 by first half of 2016

The new Doom video game was recently revealed by video game publisher Bethesda Softworks during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 press conference event, held in Los Angeles.

As a reboot of the original Doom series, the new first person shooter video game is expected to come out for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms, by the first or second quarter of 2016.

Developed by Id Software, the series is well known since the first days of the PC. The series had sold about ten million copies since its beginnings, according to a report. The first ever Doom game was released back in 1993.

A trailer of the new Doom video game was first launched earlier at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event. First announced back in 2008, the game title was known as Doom 4, which was later replaced with Doom.

The recent gameplay trailer shows the main character equipped with weapons and shooting all the hideous looking monsters that come in his way.

The demo of the new Doom video game apparently shows the classic gameplay features and horrific actions. In addition, the new game is also expected to come with a new tool called the "Doom Snapmap". Silicon Angle reported that this new tool will provide players with the ability to design their own levels in the game.

Executive Producer Marty Stratton of Id Software said, "Traditionally, we provided our tools to a community of players with the knowledge and ability to create additional content, and their work has inspired us,"

"So with this Doom we asked, 'What if every player regardless of platform or past experience had the ability to build and instantly share their own creations?'" Stratton added.

As of this time, no exact date has been mentioned, except that the new Doom game is scheduled for an early 2016 release.
