Ghana spectacularly claimed 2nd spot in Group E, and qualified for the knock-out stages along with Italy, and at the expense of the Czech Republic and the USA.

In Group F Brazil overcame a tough Japan side with a powerful 2nd half display, and Australia claimed 2nd spot in the group after a late goal saw them draw and knock-out Croatia.
