"Destiny 2" fans are getting sad news about the franchise' popular Halloween event. Developer Bungie announced that there will not be a Halloween event this year.

Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague delivered the news via Twitter, in response to a fan's inquiry if there would be a "Festival of the Lost" this year. "No, Sir," said Dague. "We may see it again someday but Season 1 has been about launch and ritual activation. The first event for Destiny 2 is 'The Dawning.'"

"Festival of the Lost" was the name of the Halloween event that players enjoyed in "Destiny 1" in 2015 and 2016. During the event, players received Halloween-themed quests and they collected cosmetic items like masks and other customization gear to have a spooky Halloween look. Players also got to collect in-game currency of treat-or-treat candy.

The game itself added cosmetic upgrades for the duration of "Festival of the Lost." The Tower, which is the game's social space, was given a scary makeover. In the Crucible mode, the matches were held in the dark to create a creepy atmosphere.

It is unfortunate that fans will not get to enjoy "Festival of the Lost" this year. However, Dague also confirmed that the first event that "Destiny 2" will have is "The Dawning." Like the Halloween event, "The Dawning," which is an event celebrating the holidays, was first done by the first "Destiny" game.

During this event, the game gets a makeover depicting winter. This means that players will also soon get winter-themed equipment and cosmetic upgrades. There will also be an entire set of Dawning-themed armor that players can collect. The Farm will also feature ice hockey and some fun snowball fights.

"Destiny 2" will be released on PC on Oct. 24. The game can be accessed exclusively through Blizzard's Battle.net platform. The title was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last month.
