The ninth episode of ABC's political television series "Designated Survivor" will shed some light on the issue involving the President's family. First Lady Alex Kirkman (Natascha McElhone) will find herself in a pit for being exonerated and will ask assistance from his husband in episode 9.
Not much has been revealed in season 2 about the connection between Patrick Lloyd's (Terry Serpico) final plot and the First Lady's family. The ninth episode titled "Three-Letter Day" will once again put President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) in hot water. After facing an alleged setup, Alex comes to her husband for aid. However, the promo video reveals that Kirkman himself is reluctant to help his wife.
It was also included in the plot summary that Agent Wells (Maggie Q) will find new answers about the plot to setup the first lady. It was indicated in the description that the answer is a lot closer in the vicinity of the White House and the President.
Also on the next episode, the White House Staff, Emily (Italia Ricci), Aaron (Adan Canto), Seth (Kal Penn), Lyor (Paulo Costanzo), and Kendra (Zoe McLellan), are on a mission to find answers to save a life after reading three letters directed to the President. The trailer also shows Seth handing in his resignation letter after the drug incident in episode 8. To recall, in the eighth episode, Seth was apprehended by the police while driving and were able to recover over 200 tabs of the illegal drug Modafinil. It was later revealed that the drugs were owned by Seth's brother, Michael (Abhi Sinha). There are no spoilers or information if the President accepted Seth's resignation or not.
The ninth episode will air on Dec. 6 10 p.m. EST on ABC. The winter finale episode titled "Line of Fire" will be the Christmas episode of season 2 and will be released on Dec. 13.
