CSW Hong Kong to Host Global Day of Prayer for Nepal

On April 17, Sunday, Christian Solidarity World Wide Hong Kong will host a Global Day of Prayer for Nepal at the Nepali Union Church, Hong Kong. The prayer topics include peace and reconciliation, freedom of speech, religion and assembly, and other important concerns for the brothers and sisters in Nepal.

CSWHK was established in 1997 and since then has served as an international, inter-denominational Christian charity acting as a voice for persecuted Christians in Asia.

"Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering," Hebrews 13:3.

Following the words of Apostle Paul, they support Christian missions in Asia by helping to bring religious freedom, monitoring human rights violations and persecutions in Asia. Through fact-finding visits they provide a link between persecuted believers and the church in Hong Kong, and operate on Biblical principles and seek accountability to the Christian community in Hong Kong.

Every year, an annual conference is held in November. Key speakers from Asian countries where Christians are suffering come together to deliver a brief report of the news and situation in thier regions.

The main tasks that CSWHK has been striving towards are finding out what is happening, making this known, thus increase awareness. In addition they are coordinating prayer fellowships, providing opportunities for response, including trips to show solidarity, and building partnerships within Christian communities so as to be most effective.

The role that they play in church unity is to work with other organisations concerned with religious freedom issues, reaching out to church leaders and missionaries in areas of concern, and forming partnerships with missions organisations based in HK.

An important part to their ministry is to unite Christian churches in Hong Kong, joining hands and hearts across denominational, cultural and linguistic divides.

"In this way, we seek to honour God and become effective agents of his love towards those who suffer in Asia."

The small group prayer fellowship has been meeting monthly to pray for the persecuted churches at Causeway Bay on Friday evenings. "The small group is considered as the most vital element and backbone of the ministry."
