As a holiday treat, video game company Sledgehammer released a new major update about the first DLC pack for the war video game "Call of Duty: World War II." The DLC patch, "The Resistance," brings three new multiplayer maps, a new chapter for Nazi Zombies, and a new War Mode campaign.
In a 5-minute video preview, Sledgehammer's co-founder Michael Condrey and other developers give a detailed explanation of what to expect. Condrey explains that the DLC pack is a continuation of the storytelling saga about World War II. "'Call of Duty: World War II' is about honoring the story of the world's costliest war. And with the Resistance DLC pack, we really get to continue that story," he says.
The DLC update brings three new maps for players -- the Anthropoid, Occupation, and Valkyrie. "This next chapter really puts you in the heart of being a resistance fighter. We're really gonna take you from three iconic Resistance-themed maps," he adds.
Anthropoid, based on the Operation Anthropoid is situated in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The Occupation is an improved version of the multiplayer map Resistance from "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and is based on Paris. Lastly, the Valkyrie fortress inspired by Adolf Hitler's Wolf Lair at Masurian Woods.
The War Mode campaign "Operation Intercept" will have players rescuing resistance fighters who are aboard a moving train in motion along St. Lo, France. According to the description of the campaign, fighters will have to destroy the enemy's communication, equipment supply, and of course the train.
The DLC update also adds the next chapter to the Nazi Zombies mission. In the "The Darkest Shore" chapter, players will make their way into an island north of Germany that is crawling with the undead.
The DLC pack "The Resistance" will be made available first on the PlayStation 4 console on Jan. 30, 2018.
