Bus Outreach - Partnership on the Street

For the last 5 years the EDEN bus ministry has been providing young people with a place to go and takes them off the street and away from the potential to get into trouble. There are now sessions operating in Hattersley, Failsworth, Salford, Stockport, Longsight and Leigh.

The EDEN bus has an amazing effect because the staff and volunteers have such a passion see God's love impacting the region's communities.

The main focus is young people aged 10+ who have nothing to do in the evening. The EDEN bus offers them a safe environment to chill out, have fun, chat with the team, ask for help with issues and build healthy responsible relationships.

The latest session has been introduced in Woodley, Stockport every Friday night. The police have been aware of the problems with youth in this area and feel that there needs to be a creative way to solve the situation instead of arresting the young people.

Another partner in this project is the local Churches Together in the area which includes Bredbury, Romiley and Woodley. They have really provided energy and momentum to make things happen. Although The Message may be bringing the EDEN bus to Woodley it's the local volunteers who make the difference. John Robinson our bus Manager has been training dozens of fresh faces to help with the bus. The project is led by Rev Nick Haigh, with around 40 volunteers including 3 drivers. Young and Old alike are getting stuck in to this challenging youth work! We believe this is a sign of new things to come. It's amazing to see such great support for new a project.

Could the Eden bus be pulling up in your neighbourhood next?
