Nintendo has announced that the adorable world of its "Animal Crossing" franchise will be making its way to smartphones this week.

The creators of Nintendo's popular video game franchise has revealed that "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp" is set to be released on Wednesday for Android and iOS mobile devices. On Twitter, the iconic "Animal Crossing" character Isabelle made the announcement.

In this game, players will be tasked to manage a campsite where a number of charming little animal characters are residing. Players will need to upgrade the comfort that the campsite provides, as well as its decorations.

The game will feature a new in-game currency called Leaf Tickets, which can be purchased by spending real-life money. This system gives impatient gamers a way to get their needed upgrades ahead of time.

Apart from the new currency, the gameplay of "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp" remains faithful to the beloved franchise, which is all about building a quiet life in a small rural village. In the mobile game, players will be developing a campsite instead of a small town.

Similar to other "Animal Crossing" games, players will have an opportunity to visit other living spaces to foster a more social kind of gameplay. Once it arrives, the game will be the fourth title from Nintendo to be released to mobile devices, following the releases of "Miitomo," "Super Mario Run," and "Fire Emblem Heroes."

Nintendo has recently been making a push to expand its influence beyond its gaming consoles. Earlier this year, even before "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp" was announced, there was a rumor that Nintendo's fourth title on mobile devices will be an "Animal Crossing" game and the fifth one will be a "Legend of Zelda" title.

While the one-half of that rumor has been confirmed, it remains to be seen if Nintendo does decide to finally take "The Legend of Zelda" franchise to smartphones.
