'One Piece' chapter 896: Can Luffy's 'King Cobra' finally defeat Katakuri?

Just when fans thought that Luffy's Gear 4th Snakeman might be the key to defeating Katakuri, chapter 895 of the famed pirate adventure manga "One Piece" revealed that Katakuri was able to find out about the protagonist's strategy. Now, as fans await chapter 896, Luffy will use "King Cobra," while Katakuri will be relying on "Sliced Mochi: Slayer" to defeat him in what is said to be the end of this epic battle.

While his Gear 4th Snakeman improved his flexibility, Luffy also had to come to terms with its side-effects. It was hinted that the Snakeman enabled him to say everything that he was thinking, such as how Katakuri's blows hurt and how hungry he already was.

The last scenes in chapter 895 hint at this conclusion, with both Luffy and Katakuri ready to give their all to defeat their opponent. Unfortunately for the fans who have been left hanging from the characters' last encounter, Eiichiro Oda revealed that he will be taking a week-long break, making the wait for chapter 896 even longer than fans have gotten used to.

This leaves much room for the fans to speculate about the epic conclusion. According to Redditor maxpower8421, Luffy will win this fight and deal a deadly blow, to the point that Katakuri will be physically ejected from the Mirror World.

Among Big Mom's children, Katakuri has a different personality, so there might also be a likelihood of Katakuri letting Luffy go in case the fight ends in a draw.

Should chapter 896 truly be the conclusion of the epic battle between Luffy and Katakuri, Oda may very well start working on the new villain on "One Piece." He has already previously said that the manga series will enter the "Wano" arc this year. According to a statement he made at Jump Festa 2018, he will "introduce one of the legends which lurks in the 'One Piece' world. The greatest enemy ever for Straw Hats will hinder their way. Perhaps it will be related to Whitebeard."

Meanwhile, "One Piece" fans will have to wait a few more days until Oda releases chapter 896.
