Reports about the release date of "Final Fantasy 15" have been rather elusive but thankfully, game director Hajime Tabata has finally provided more details as to when gamers can expect the highly anticipated action role-playing video game.

"We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016!" Tabata said in a Square Enix blog post. "In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower," he added, hinting that they are close to completing it.

Tabata also took time to thank fans for their undying support and assured them that they will make "Final Fantasy 15" everything that gamers imagined it to be. He vows that everyone involved "will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft."

"We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure," he promised. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the next Active Time Report this month.

A broadcast is scheduled in January, although a specific date is yet to be divulged. In this event, fans will be treated to new "Final Fantasy 15" gameplay footage, an exclusive look at the Niflheim Empire and a whole lot more goodies and surprises.

It is expected that there will be a flurry of details to be revealed in this episode, knowing that this is the first Active Time Report in five months. Fans also hope that the specific release date for the game will also be announced there.

"Final Fantasy 15" was first announced back in 2006. Back then, it was being made for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. By 2013, after a lack of news surrounding the game, it was confirmed that it was being developed for the new-gen consoles Xbox One and PS4.
