Xiaomi Mi Note 3 release date and spec rumors: What to expect

Xiaomi's newest flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6. Xiaomi

Xiaomi's release of their Mi6 was met with much hype and excitement that had their stores handing out one after another. Even though the electronics company was expected to release a phablet right after Mi6, reports say that the plan may have been scrapped in favor of focusing their energy on the Mi Note 3.

While rumors are circulating about the specs of Xiaomi's Mi Note 3, it seems that the unveiling is set for the third quarter (Q3) of this year, as reported by My Drivers. It will be followed by the announcement of the Chinese tech firm's next product, the Mi MIX 2, which is expected to be unveiled in Q4.

According to Indian Express, a group discussion in China's social media platform known as Weibo revealed the fate of the Mi6 Plus. The reason for Xiaomi's decision is still a mystery but fans are speculating that the Mi6 Plus may have just been renamed as Mi Note 3.

So far, there is limited information about the specs of Mi Note 3. WCCFTech reports that it could come with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as well as a missing headphone jack. Because the Mi Note 2 came with a competitive 4,070mAh battery, interested consumers expect the Mi Note 3 to have the same if it's not equipped with a better powerhouse.

Rumors also indicate that the Mi Note 3 might be come with a QHD panel made possible by AMOLED display technology as well as the innovative dual-camera option that was first seen in the recently marketed Mi6. As for the screen, the Mi Note 2's 5.7-inch screen is expected to make a reappearance in Mi Note 3, as it has always been present in the previous generations of Xiaomi's Mi and Note series. The tech company has yet to give more information but if the unveiling is expected to happen in Q3, Xiaomi just might release more details sooner or later.
