The catalog of backwards compatible games keeps growing bigger for the Xbox One. Microsoft just recently announced that three more Xbox 360 games have been added to the expanding library.
The three games that are now playable in the current-generation system are "Child of Eden," "KOF Sky Stage," and "Goat Simulator." The first one is a rhythmic-action game from Tetsuya Mizuguchi which is considered as a successor to one of his most popular creations, "Rez." This Xbox 360 game was supported by Kinect but players also had the option to use standard controllers. "Child of Eden" is a welcome addition to the backwards compatible library even though it is not as strong a game as "Rez."
The next one is "KOF Sky Stage" which is a shooting game. This is an offshoot of the "King of Fighters" fighting game series. The last one is the popular "Goat Simulator" which has an Xbox One version. However, many fans own a copy of the Xbox 360 game which makes it doubly exciting for them knowing they can revisit the game they love on the latest Xbox One.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Wired recently, "I see games as an art form. Console games can get lost when hardware generations go away. It can become more challenging to play the games of our past," Spencer expressed. It was apparent that in what he stressed, older games needed to be preserved for newer audiences, which was why backwards compatibility was so important. It was also a good business opportunity to sell older games to newer players.
"There's something to be learned from experiencing what I played as a kid. There is good business there for the content owners, but as players, it is nice to be able to understand how our art form has progressed," Spencer further explained.
