Fans of her procedural police show "Chicago P.D." were blindsided by the announcement that one the series' lead stars, Sophia Bush, was leaving the show. There were no concrete reasons given aside from executive producer Dick Wolfe saying that it was a decision made by the actress. Now, Bush has finally broken her silence.

According to reports, Bush has struck a deal with 20th Century Fox to star in a pilot series. Given her new deal, some fans speculated that this was the main reasons why the actress left the show. Bush responded to news of her TV project in an Instagram post. The actress revealed her reason for leaving "Chicago P.D." when a user commented that she was possibly cut from the show.

"Took me a long time and lot of hard work to get out of that show. Please don't demean my capabilities by degrading my position. I left because I wanted to. End of story," she said.

This might be one of the most honest answers why a working actor would want to leave an acting gig. While it doesn't reveal why Bush felt she was over with "Chicago P.D.," her honesty about making the decision should be enough.

Additionally, it seems that the actress is getting more out of her deal with 20th Century Fox. Aside from headlining the new comedy or drama TV pilot, she will also be dabbling with developing and executive producing additional content for the company. It will surely be an exciting phase in Bush's career as she slowly transitions to more creative roles in the industry.

Aside from Bush's former role in "Chicago P.D." as Detective Erin Lindsay which lasted for four seasons, she also starred in the teen drama "One Tree Hill" as Brooke Davis. She will soon be seen in the upcoming movie, "Acts of Violence."
