Ten years after the Lara Croft was last seen on the big screen, the iconic lead character from "Tomb Raider" will once again appear in the movies as Oscar Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander takes over the role once played by Angelina Jolie.

Little had been known about the development of the next "Tomb Raider" film, until film producer Graham King opened up about their plans for the plot of the upcoming reboot in an interview with HeyUGuys.

According to King, the upcoming "Tomb Raider" film will dig deeper into Lara Croft's history. "This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it," the producer stated.

He also mentioned in the interview that the upcoming movie will be more interesting since it will solely focus on the life of Lara Croft before she begins all her life-threatening adventures.

King also revealed that he believes that the storytelling for the upcoming reboot movie is really good, and they managed to find the ideal crew and director to take care of the movie.

The revelations of King mirrored the statements of filmmaker Roar Uthaug, the director tapped by Warner Bros. and MGM to direct the upcoming movie, during his interview with IGN back in March. In the interview, the reboot will feature an origin story just like the plot of the 2013 "Tomb Raider" game. It will also make Lara Croft a more relatable character.

"I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that's definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well," the filmmaker stated. "I think we'll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I'm hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise."

The "Tomb Raider" reboot is expected to be released on March 16, 2018.
