'Thor: Ragnarok' spoilers, release date: Will Lady Sif be killed by Hela?

Marvel's Asgardian hammer-wielding deity will be back in a few months for another standalone film, titled "Thor: Ragnarok." The titular character will be going against the powerful Hela, who will be portrayed by Cate Blanchett. Many believe the villainess will break some hearts by killing off a few well-loved characters.

Who will bid the Marvel Cinematic Universe good-bye?

According to reports, Lady Sif, who is portrayed by Jaimie Alexander, is one of Hela's rumored victims. Lady Sif is one of Asgard's bravest warriors. She is Thor's friend and admirer. Thor, who will struggle to defeat Hela, might get himself in an unfortunate situation that will prompt Lady Sif to sacrifice herself. If this does happen, it will not entirely come as a surprise since in the comic books, the warrior gave up her life to save Thor. It is still unclear whether or not the Lady Sif storyline will be adapted into the film. Hence, fans should treat this with a grain of salt.

Hela is a formidable opponent and Thor will need his brother Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) help in defeating her. Perhaps that is why Thor approached the time-bending sorcerer Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), as seen in the post-credits scene of the hero's first standalone film of the same title.

Aside from Cumberbatch, fans can expect to see Mark Ruffalo's the Hulk in the film. The green Avenger was last seen riding a Quinjet, flying off to god-knows-where. But as revealed in the trailer of the film, Thor and the Hulk will eventually find themselves on the same planet. Unfortunately, the pair will meet at unfavorable circumstances. They will meet during a gladiator match, wherein they will be forced to go against each other.

Apart from the aforementioned actors, Marvel fans should expect to see Idris Elba reprise his role as Heimdall, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Moreover, Blanchett will not be the only the new face in "Thor: Ragnarok." The roster includes Tessa Thompson who will play Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, and Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster.

"Thor: Ragnarok" hits theaters this Nov. 3.
