Fans of George R.R. Martins' "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series are still waiting on news on the author's upcoming novel, "The Winds of Winter," particularly about the book's release date.
While the author has been hard at work on the novel, there has been a lot of speculation about the book's release date, with some saying that it might be ready well before the premiere of season 6 of "Game of Thrones." Now, a new theory has emerged about the book's completion, citing an exact date as to when Martin could possibly finish working on the novel.
According to Yibada, BrydenBFish gave his take on the book's completion on "ASOIF"-centric blog Wars and Politics of Ice and Fire. He said that it normally takes four to eight months for a manuscript to make their way to bookshelves all around the world. The blogger said that with an accelerated publishing schedule, it's possible that Martin could finish writing "The Winds of Winter" by Feb. 23, 2016.
Meanwhile, there has been no word from the author himself as to when the much-anticipated book will be available, but Martin previously expressed his hopes of releasing the novel before "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO for its sixth season. The show recently revealed that it will be returning on April, and while that's about to happen, the author is believed to still be working on "The Winds of Winter," having previously cancelled appearances such as at this year's Comic-Con San Diego.
These days, the author has been keeping to his hometown of Sante Fe, New Mexico where his theater, Jean Cocteau Cinema, is located. This month, Martin hosted some book signings for other authors at the theater and he also held a screening of the world premiere of SyFy's new series, "Expanse," last week. Last month, the author signed copies of his books at the theater and on his official blog, he informed fans that autographed books are now available for those who wish to give them as Christmas gifts.
"Autographed books make great Christmas presents…but to be sure of getting your books by Christmas, it would be wise to order now," Martin wrote.
