There is no rest for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company, as the explosive season premiere of "The Walking Dead's" eighth season will be followed by the second episode's prelude to a war for survival.

Titled "The Damned," episode two of season eight features the cold determination of characters of the series as Rick, Carol (Melissa McBride) and King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) all prepare for a war against each other. Rick, as usual, will be teaming up with his right-hand man Daryl (Norman Reedus), as the two have been inseparable since the earliest seasons of the show.

Carol and King can be seen readying their troops against Negan's, with King encouraging his people by saying, "We have come this far. Our first victory will allow our second; our second will deliver our third."

Meanwhile, Negan and his Saviors, sinister as ever, will be seen vowing to win everything.

Apart from Rick and his gang, the Saviors will also be dealing with the usual threat of walkers in their sanctuary. In the past episode, it was shown that their sanctuary was in very poor condition. The place had become riddled with Walkers because of the broken fences. This setback will probably give Rick and friends the advantage they need to keep the pressure on the Saviors.

The problem in the sanctuary, while being an advantage for Rick, puts one of his friends, Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), in a tough spot. Father Gabriel got entangled in the chaos caused by the sanctuary attack and got separated with Rick, consequently getting stuck in the zombie-infested headquarters.

To make matters worse, Negan also saw Father Gabriel and is now presumably holding him hostage after recognizing him as part of Rick's group. Whatever will happen to Father Gabriel while in captivity remains to be seen, though Negan hints that it will be unpleasant.

More will be revealed once "The Walking Dead" season eight, episode two, "The Damned" airs on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
