'The Walking Dead' season 8 spoiler, update: Andrew Lincoln talks about possible Rick Grimes death

Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in AMC's "The Walking Dead" AMC

The majority of the episodes of the seventh season of the AMC's "The Walking Dead" saw Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his barbed wire-covered baseball bat, Lucille, torturing the members of Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) team. But this upcoming season, Rick's team will get back on their fighting stance. However, there have been unconfirmed rumors that a character will be departing in the next installment.

Lincoln, in an interview with the Daily News, spoke of the uncertainty everyone was afraid to delve in. The actor said, "I think the audience deserves an end game." He hinted that he would be okay with the show killing his character off if that would mean an answer and a new development for the fans. With that said, many are speculating that the series might be killing off another main character.

Although it is hard to imagine the show without its protagonist, there is a possibility that Rick might die in the eighth season of the post-apocalyptic series. No one knows exactly, as the show had been known for being unpredictable, but it can be recalled that the team previously killed fan favorites Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) during the premiere of season 7.

Anything is possible, anyway, as Morgan revealed that the season would be filled with blood. This might mean that the fight between Negan and Rick would be bloody and could possibly be one reason for Rick's death. "I don't think I'll forget this year because of how much fake blood I got on me," Morgan added.

In the comics, Negan will be toppled from his reign by Rick, and the gang and will eventually join Rick's team. Although the series is based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the show has been noted for growing unfaithful to its source.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 will premiere on Oct. 22, Sunday, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
