The AMC post-apocalyptic series "The Walking Dead" just kicked off its season with an episode that saw low viewership numbers, but something to keep the remaining fans hooked was the showrunner's recent revelation.

The 100th episode showed a lot of references from the first season of "The Walking Dead," like the scene in the gasoline station where a girl walker carrying her stuffed toy had to be put out of her misery by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), a moment that left questions for the viewers. The special had fans noticing that this might be another inkling of a possible comeback of another character from older seasons.

In relation, "The Walking Dead" creator Greg Nicotero, in an interview with Yahoo for the season premiere of the eighth season, confirmed that there would be a character coming back to the show. He said that a "character that we may have thought was dead" might be seen on the next episode of the zombie-infested show.

The only thing fans could hope for on this show is another fan-favorite character comeback, someone whose storyline might have been cut off early on and one who had shown potential abilities in fighting walkers. This is especially true after "The Walking Dead" killed some of the favorites of the show.

Clearly, it would not be Glenn (Steven Yeun) or Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), as they were established dead since the season premiere of the seventh season. This was attributed to be the reason for the decline of the ratings for the season 8's opening episode titled "Mercy."

TV Guide suggested a rundown of the possible characters that may be due for a comeback. Morgan's (Lennie James) son, Duane (Adrian Kali Turner), who was supposedly eaten by Morgan's wife, is a strong possibility as there was no corpse shown.

That said, the outfit believed that Morales (Juan Pareja) was more likely to come back after his family got separated with Rick and the gang in season 1. Morales and his family went to Birmingham to look for other family members, but since then, the show did not give details about the fate of him or his family.
