"The Walking Dead" fans have long cherished the few love stories that ease the horror and suffering of the characters in the zombie series. Since the latest episode of the eight season, titled "Monsters," saw the death of Eric Raleigh (Jordan Woods-Robinson), Aaron's boyfriend (Ross Marquand), many viewers are now asking if there will now be another love team that will replace the fan-favorite.
Incidentally, a few possibilities have been in the works for some time now. One fan favorite is Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol's (Melissa McBride) somewhat short-lived romance in the earlier seasons of "The Walking Dead." Fans had quickly shipped the two since Daryl's soft side was believed to be something that could not be shown to just anyone.
Now, Reedus, in a "Talking Dead" interview, teased that there could be a possibility for the love team to still happen. "You just never know with this show, what they're gonna do. I love Melissa, more than Daryl loves Carol, even. Never say never," Reedus said.
Carol and Daryl had established an unspoken connection in other seasons, even though Carol might now be leaning towards Ezekiel (Khary Payton). Daryl was always known as the tough guy and a man of few words, while Carol had been a rebel fighter. But, during the times she was grieving for the death of her daughter, Sophia (Madison Lintz), which saw Daryl going to a great extent to find the girl, Daryl had shown care for the widow. "The Walking Dead" season 3 even went further to teasing the love team when Carol had asked if Daryl wanted to "screw around."
Another possible love team that could lighten up the atmosphere would be Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). They have had sparks here and there in the previous seasons. The actors even teased that a baby could be on the way, something many fans believe will be a possible method of repopulation.
"The Walking Dead" airs Sundays, at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
