In the season 7 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries," fans saw how Damon (Ian Somerhalder) dealt with what happened to Elena (Nina Dobrev) as he drank away his cares to forget about losing the love of his life. In an upcoming episode of the CW show, Damon will once again be reverting to his devil-may-care ways after his experience in the Phoenix stone.

According to the synopsis for the episode titled "Postcards from the Edge," after Damon's experience in the Phoenix stone leads him to do the unimaginable, Damon finds himself not caring about a single thing in the world as he spirals out of control and is under the influence of Julian (Todd Lasance).

Refusing to give up on his brother, Stefan (Paul Wesley) attempts to talk some sense into him, only to find out the shocking reason behind his descent. Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice King) begins to experience life-threatening side effects as a result of her pregnancy and is forced to turn to Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) for help.

Last year, Stefan and Damon got trapped in the Phoenix stone, which sent the brothers to their personal hell. The stone punishes its vampire prisoners by making them relive all of the sins that they have done in the past, and it's no secret that Damon has done a lot of despicable things in his lifetime.

It also appears that Caroline's pregnancy might be coming to an end as King gave birth to a baby girl earlier this week. It remains to be seen whether Caroline will have a vampire baby sometime during the season, or whether her pregnancy will end with more deaths in the series.

Episode 12 "Postcards from the Edge" will air on Feb. 12, while the series's long awaited crossover with "The Originals" will mark its 14th episode of the season.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
