The season 4 of "The Last Ship" just ended on Oct. 8, Sunday, making people eager to know how Sasha Cooper (Bridget Regan) and Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) will fare in the next season.

The tough looking Chandler had always shown his softer side with Cooper. There have been times when fans noticed that the captain seemed to be comfortable around the fierce crew, making them speculate that there will be more of their love story in the season 5 of "The Last Ship."

In an interview in July 2016, Dane talked about the scene where his character kissed Cooper, after barely making it in the sea. "I think it's time for Chandler to move on. He's been mourning his wife for an appropriate amount of time," he said, adding that Cooper had been part of his character's life for so long.

Because of how Chandler handled everything on the ship, it is just fitting to see more emotions from the leader. In an interview with TVLine, Regan said, "I will say that Sasha and Chandler go somewhere that they haven't gone yet." She added that the recently ended season had taken what Cooper and Chandler have on another level, especially with them being transparent with their emotions. So, fans are holding on to the possibility that there will be more romance for the next season of "The Last Ship."

Deadline reported that the show will have no sixth season after actor Travis Van Winkle, who plays Danny Green in the series, updated his fans on Instagram. TNT said that season 5 was given a go-signal "with the idea that it could be the final season." But, the company also said that it was too early to tell if there would be no season 6.

"The Last Ship" is based on William Brinkley's 1988 novel of the same title. Season 5 will air in 2018 on TNT.
