The reviews are out for the new movie "The Clapper," which received terrible feedback from critics who generally panned it for being boring, corny, and charmless.

The romantic comedy, directed by Dito Montiel, received a dismal 14 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a site that averages review scores from different entertainment outlets. Here are what some of the reviewers had to say.

Jacob Oller from Paste Magazine expressed, "'The Clapper' is just so boring and corny that all the audience can do is either feel bad for Helms or disingenuously applaud his unsuccessful efforts, mimicking his character's chosen vocation."

In addition, Keith Watson from Slant Magazine wrote, "'The Clapper' hints at the psychological roots of Eddie's peculiar personality, but in the end it isn't at all interested in understanding the man. And that's because it's too busy making fun of him."

Lastly, Kenji Fujishima, also from Slant Magazine remarked, "Rarely does anyone's behavior here feel in any way tied to authentic human experience, only to Dito Montiel's fatally leaden comic touch."

The story is about a middle-aged man named Eddie (Ed Helms) who makes a living as an audience member on infomercials. He claps during the taping of these commercials and earns a decent wage doing this, along with his friend Chris (Tracy Morgan). He seems quite content with this line of work. The only thing that makes him excited is his romance with a gas station attendant named Judy (Amanda Seyfried).

One day, Eddie's life is turned upside down when talk-show host Jayme Stillerman (Russell Peters) takes an interest him and starts a media craze to discover his real identity. The intense spotlight on him leads to the disappearance of Judy. He then goes on a quest to find his first love.

"The Clapper" is set to premiere on Friday, Jan 26, in theaters all across the nation.
