This week, "The Blacklist" returned with a new episode which sees Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) now in the custody of the FBI.
Now that she's in the glass box that previously housed Red (James Spader), her life is in even more danger as the Cabal is still intent on killing her. Red then came up with an unconventional plan to have her name cleared; however, the Director of the CIA arrived claiming that a Russian attack is imminent and because Liz is a spy, he has to take her away.
The Director demanded that the box should be opened, but Aram saw this coming and he changed the code before the Director arrived.
In order to bully Aram into giving him the code, the director had the glass box filled with nitrogen gas, and Aram reluctantly gave him the code. As the Director led Liz outside to her certain death, she was saved by the arrival of Cynthia Panabaker, who ordered Wright to safely transfer Liz to the courthouse of her trial.
Liz certainly had a narrow escape this time and it looks like the heroine will live to see another day. But one thing that wasn't addressed in the midseason premiere is Boone's pregnancy. Last year, the star announced that she is expecting, and there has been some speculation that "The Blacklist" will incorporate the actress's pregnancy into her storyline. It was pointed out that Liz got intimate with her ex-husband, Tom (Ryan Eggold) in a previous season 3 episode, and this could explain the character's pregnancy if ever the show will choose to include it in the story.
Show creator Jon Bokenkamp spoke with TVLine and confirmed that the show has come to a decision on how to handle Boone's pregnancy.
"It's difficult because Megan works incredibly hard," said Bokenkamp. "She's almost in every scene of the show."
The show creator did not offer any details about how they will work around her pregnancy, but did say that the decision to include the pregnancy or not was something that they took very seriously.
"I'm not going to tell you what we decided, but we have figured out what to do," he teased.
"The Blacklist" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
