The season 5 premiere may be months away, but what fans could keep in mind is that The CW's "The 100" might hopefully be running for multiple seasons.

The post-apocalyptic sci-fi series' executive producer, Jason Rothenberg, recently sealed a deal with Warner Bros. Television, Deadline reported. The signed deal would include a "multiyear overall deal" with the network, which was the studio at the helm of "The 100."

The contract would have the showrunner to continue being in charge of "The 100." Aside from this, Rothenberg will be creating streaming, network, and cable projects, among others, for the company. Aside from "The 100," Rothernberg also created "Body Politic" for The CW.

This might be a nod to the show, which might span for how many seasons as the showrunner signed a "multiyear" deal, though there was no mention if "The 100" would be extended. Hypable reported that The CW's president, Mark Pedowitz, had no talks about the near ending of the show, a positive thing about the series' fate. Though it was not a clear implication for a renewal for season 6, this might mean that the officials of the network had no instructions to lean the script towards an ending.

"The 100's" season 4 also left a lot of cliffhangers, so much so that the next season will have many things to undertake, and that it might need another season just to cover these new plotholes. As such, predictions have it that the next season will focus on the characters' connection and relationship with other people. Because of this, fans could expect that there will be many flashbacks.

The season 5 will have 13 episodes, just like the past season. Production had started for the next season of "The 100," which would air in 2018.

"The 100" series is based on the book of the same name, written by Kass Morgan. The story revolves around the 100 young survivors of a nuclear explosion that had killed almost everyone on Earth. They were spared because they were in space, and the show sees their lives as they are sent to come back to Earth to know if the planet safe for habitation.
