Tesla news update: Futuristic and advanced navigation system 'almost done'

Tesla sure knows where it's going, as its "light years ahead" navigation system and map engine are almost done according to founder and CEO Elon Musk.

The said new technology for Tesla cars are being hailed by Musk himself as cutting-edge and quite possibly more advanced than any existing system. There is no exact arrival date for the said car technology though Musk previously announced that it will be released sometime in early 2018, meaning it may be just around the corner.

Speculations are it will be aptly called Tesla Maps based on the technology uncovered by a Tesla hacker named "verygreen" who was able to test out the said system in his car and even gave the public a sneak peek of it. Tesla's development announcements for its cars also pretty much confirm the existence of a new standard navigation and self-driving system when Tesla announced that it is revamping its navigation system with its new open-source modules called MapBox and Valhalla.

Hacker verygreen also claimed that the Tesla navigation and map engine he was able to get a hold of was very smooth and detailed compared to something like Google's, where individual road forks and zoom levels are more refined and noticeable, certainly a significant feature for a car. So far though, Tesla has been staying quite secretive about details surrounding its new navigation and map system for its cars, and most of the alleged features has actually just came from verygreen and are yet to be confirmed.

There is also not much to go on about how much advanced the new map system is compared to what is already available, meaning car enthusiasts and potential Tesla car buyers will just have to take Musk's word for it that it will be light years ahead of the competition.

The wait may not be too long though since Musk also Tweeted that the new feature is almost done and should be arriving any day now.
