'Teen Wolf' season 5B spoilers: Show creator says season's last half will be 'more fun'

'Teen Wolf' is set to return next year, and while the first half of its fifth season was one of the darkest and most frightening yet in the series, season 5B is going to be lighter, according to show creator Jeff Davis.

Speaking at the show's New York Comic Con panel, Davis said, "We went pretty dark in 5A. We're getting our sense of humor back, we like to say, in 5B. It's gonna be much more fun."

Davis said that fans will continue to see the budding romance between Scott (Tyler Posey) and Kira (Arden Cho).

"They're so cute and I love the awkwardness between them, and it really brings a kind of awkwardness to the show," said Posey, adding that he thinks the show needs this kind of interaction from the couple and that they're relationship is "just really relatable."

And while viewers will see Scott as an alpha in the upcoming season, there will be a lot of conflict in his pack, particularly between Scott and Liam, as well as Scott and Stiles (Dylan O'Brien). Posey said that season 5B will see the peak of Scott and Stiles's conflict, while Davis revealed that despite all the tension and the infighting, the pack will eventually have a "reformulation."

For fans of Stiles and Lydia (Holland Roden) who are waiting for their friendship to turn into something more, Davis said that the upcoming season will see a turning point in their relationship as Stiles heads out to save Lydia.

The show creator said that getting Lydia out of Eichen House "is ultimately up to Stiles." Back in season 5A, Lydia was trapped in Eichen House, which was sealed off with mountain ash, thus preventing anyone supernatural from entering the premises. Davis said that there will be an "epic moment" that will focus on the pair in episode 15 and 16 of season 5B.

"I don't want to tease too much because we want it to be surprising, but it will satisfy certain fans I hope," said Davis.

"Teen Wolf" season 5B premieres on Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. on MTV.
