Everyone's favorite Italian plumber is making waves again, as "Super Mario Odyssey" gets a live-action promotional music video for its Nintendo Switch release.

The music video, titled "Jump Up, Super Star!" has been uploaded to YouTube by Nintendo and shows a 3D Mario dancing with real people to jazzy Broadway music. No gameplay is included in the clip, but it shows the iconic plumber jumping on taxi cabs and showing off his moves. The music video was made to precede one of the potentially biggest Switch titles of the year, "Super Mario Odyssey."

Fans who liked the song in the music video are also in for a treat, as it will be featured as the main theme in the upcoming Switch game. Rolling Stone suggested that the catchy music and its different tune will set the stage for a more diverse Mario game, which may change its design and theme.

"Super Mario Odyssey" is an upcoming 3D sandbox-style, platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Switch handheld console. It follows Mario and his new ally, Cappy (his sentient cap), straying away from the comfort of the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue a kidnapped Princess Peach. Mario will need to collect Power Moons as fuel for the Odyssey airship to reach Princess Peach before Bowser makes good on his wedding plans for her.

Mario having a new ally introduces gameplay dynamics, which are fundamentally new to the franchise. These include unique abilities that will make players rethink the usual run-and-gun gameplay that the plumber is famous for. Having Cappy around gives Mario access to moves like cap throw, cap jump, and capture, where the last one involves seizing enemies, objects, and animals to progress through the game.

The game also allows for two players on the Switch, where Player 1 controls Mario while Player 2 controls Cappy. Sadly there Luigi is out of the question for Player 2.

"Super Mario Odyssey" is set to be released on Oct. 27 for the Nintendo Switch. Fans may also download the music video's theme through the game's official website but only until January next year.
