"State of Decay 2" is taking collector's editions to a new level, as the zombie game includes a brain in the special bonus contents of its collector's edition.
Granted it's not exactly "the" human brain, but just a replica of the internal organ functioning as a book stand. Nevertheless, it stays true to the theme of its game since it is a well-known pop culture norm that zombies prefer to eat the brains of their victims more than anything else. The brain book stand also seems to be a 1:1 replica of the actual thing and can hold quite a thick book.
In addition to the brain book stand, the "State of Decay 2: Collector's Edition" will also include a universal serial bus (USB) "thumb" drive, with the thumb part being literal since the shroud of the flash drive is actually a replica of a severed human thumb. Like the brain, the size of the replica is also 1:1 and is equally gruesome since it appears to have belonged to a zombie or a dirty and dying human.
Last but not the least, one of the selling points of the collector's edition is a zombie mask that appears to be made of high-quality latex and can be worn over the head down to the neck, making for a convincing zombie costume. This makes the collector's edition quite more exciting compared with the offerings of other games' collector's editions, especially for zombie genre buffs.
Other bonuses include a "State of Decay 2" patch, and a steelbook case for the game, plus whatever in-game freebies the collector's edition might entail. Oddly enough, Microsoft, the game's publisher has stated that a copy of the game will not be included. All these will set players back by $69.99 compared with the standard and ultimate editions of the game priced at $29.99 and $49.99 respectively.
Preorders are now also available for all versions of the game for the Xbox One and PC. The game will be released on May 22.
