"Star Citizen" is showing off new things. At CitizenCon 2947 last week, developer Cloud Imperium Games displayed the upcoming game's sprawling city that evokes the same vibe as the movie "Blade Runner."

Cloud Imperium Games CEO Chris Roberts took to the stage and showed off the game's Area 18. It features people moving around a district filled with neon lights, giving the feeling that the city itself is bustling with life with towering structures and an industrial-looking complex.

In his keynote speech, Roberts said, "So, we've gone a bit bigger. The big difference we have with ArcCorp now, is that there isn't really a skybox. Everything is real. Well, not real, it's digital but it's there." This is in reference to how players can explore or get to places, whether by sky or land.

In the live stream broadcast, the Cloud Imperium Games team showed off of how the pilot in charge demonstrates their flying abilities by maneuvering out of Area 18 onto another skyscraper. The pilot then angles the ship and points it towards a space station orbiting the planet and heads there.

There is no date attached to the release of the planet-sized metropolis. Roberts hinted that this is the next big build that they are taking in the "Star Citizen" game and they plan to slowly and carefully roll it out.

Once the rollout for the next build is done, Cloud Imperium Games is changing tactics and will move towards a date-driven release for their game build. This just means that even if the content is not done, it will roll over to the release date rather than force a delay until the development team finishes.

The complete version of the video game "Star Citizen" does not a release date yet. It will be playable on Microsoft Windows PC and Linux platforms.
