'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' news: Farting contest announced, winners to have their farts featured in-game

Ubisoft puts the "art" in performance fart in its new promotion for "South Park: The Fractured But Whole," as the game company has just launched an International Fart Contest for its upcoming "South Park" video game.

The International Fart Contest, aptly titled "I Am the Fart," will have contestants demonstrating their flatulence, and the winning farts will be included in-game. A promotional video has also been uploaded by Ubisoft. The clip shows the contest imitating the "American Idol" or "The Voice" audition screening process — complete with three judges and contestants who unleash their best "performances."

The contest is in line with "The Fractured But Whole's" protagonist's superpower — farts that enable him to travel across time and defeat enemies. James Pryce, the game's "fart" developer, stated that they are still looking for a universal fart sound for the game, hence the contest.

Contestants who win the said contest will be invited to San Francisco to have Ubisoft record them breaking wind as a "sound signature" in-game. Ubisoft described the work as a "unique hearing experience, involving the fans directly into the game's creation." The contest is also a follow-up to Ubisoft's earlier promotion for the same "South Park" game where it released the "Nosulus Rift," essentially a version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles which will allow users to also smell farts whenever they happen in-game.

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole," like its predecessor, is a turn-based roleplaying game (RPG). The sequel improves upon the formula of the previous game, "The Stick of Truth," and is already being hailed as a much better RPG by PC Gamer. "The Fractured But Whole" will be released on Oct. 17.

Fans who want to have their gases heard in-game can join the "I Am the Fart" contest and submit a video of them farting until Oct. 16. Results of the contest will be announced on Oct. 23 via Facebook and Twitter.
