Sophie Turner, Joe Jonas engagement update: Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Maisie Williams congratulate the couple

The weekend engagement that had everyone talking was that of "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner and DNCE member Joe Jonas. Even celebrities congratulated the pair, who made the announcement through social media.

One of the well-wishers is Joe's brother and former bandmate Nick, who expressed his compliment through Twitter. Joe's ex, "Sorry Not Sorry" singer Demi Lovato also took to Instagram to share the love for the recent engagement, saying that she was ecstatic for the two love birds.

Lovato and Joe Jonas were co-stars in Disney Channel movie "Camp Rock." They eventually dated but decided to split. Even so, they remained close friends.

"Game of Thrones" co-star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the hit HBO thriller series, also congratulated Turner, who plays Sansa Stark. Williams reposted the couple's engagement photo on Instagram with a caption that goes, "This is just one of MANY life milestones we'll share." She and Turner have been applauded by fans for taking the friendship off-cam.

Turner and Jonas surprised everyone when they shared a photo of their hands overlapping, with Turner's hand adorned with a ring with a pear-shaped gem, which was estimated by The Jewelry Appraiser Inc. to be around $25,000 to $30,000.

The couple was spotted together in different occasions late last year. Though they had been discreet about their relationship, the two were seen celebrating Halloween with friends in October 2016. A seemingly sweeter pair had been noticed in November, reportedly dancing and singing at a Kings of Leon concert.

Things got more public in January this year after Turner and Jonas were seen holding hands in public and even smooching after the Golden Globes. The "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress also revealed in two separate magazine interviews that she preferred to keep her relationship in private. Leading to their engagement month, the couple adopted a husky that they named Porky Basquiat in September.
