Fans of DC are getting edgy and restless with "Shazam," as the director of the upcoming DC superhero movie compels them to practice patience and wait for a trailer before jumping to conclusions.
A lot of pressure has been placed on the shoulders of the wizard superhero due to the negative connotation associated with the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) because of the recent blunder of "Justice League." Apparently, "Shazam" and all other DCEU movies after "Justice League" will make or break the franchise, which is why some fans have already assumed the worst for said movies.
David F. Sandberg, the director of "Shazam," has something to say about this. The 36-year-old director has taken to Twitter to quell digital unrest and negative speculation regarding his upcoming DCEU film. Sandberg has also addressed people who are influencing others to steer clear of the movie simply based on the ill repute of DCEU, "Wonder Woman" notwithstanding.
"Not to stop you from having an opinion about something that doesn't exist yet, it's the internet after all, but as I designate a movie the obligatory Best/Worst Ever!! I find it helpful sometimes to have more info than a few character names," stated Sandberg in a tweet, further adding, "Sometimes I'll even wait for a trailer of some sort if I really want to go crazy."
This is because the movie simply has not even started with production yet, which is why Sandberg is under a lot of pressure right now due to how fans are quickly judging the movie without any solid evidence. One fan simply assumed that the movie would be terrible based on his disdain for the "New 52" version of Shazam, which Sandberg has admitted that the film will be incorporating in its source material.
It can be recalled that this sort of negative buzz surrounding a DC movie was also present before "Wonder Woman" was released. Ultimately, the movie exceeded expectations and dispelled all negative assumptions. Whether Sandberg can replicate this breakthrough success for DCEU remains to be seen, but the director remains confident that they will not mess up "Shazam."
