Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez), Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta), and the New York City Police Department will face another round of danger in the two-part finale of "Shades of Blue" season 2.

According to the synopsis of the first part of the second season finale, titled "Behind the Mask," Harlee will help ADA Nava (Gino Anthony Pesi) cover his tracks after a violent encounter. This will reportedly uncover a different side of herself, which could potentially put their relationship in danger.

On the other hand, Wozniak will have to encounter someone from his past to be able to defeat his current enemy, while Robert Stahl (Warren Kole) will discover a very important information while looking for the truth about Miguel.

Meanwhile, the second part of the season 2 finale will show a dramatic confrontation between Wozniak and the ally who betrayed him. He will also have to make a very important decision in the upcoming episode.

Elsewhere, Stahl's plan to frame Harlee for murder will finally have a positive outcome after forcing her to get dangerously close to a man who is very obsessed with her. Ultimately, both Harlee and Wozniak will resort to desperate efforts to save themselves and the rest of the NYPD. However, it might result in some shocking consequences for both police detectives.

The finale episode of "Shades of Blue" season 2 will air on NBC on Sunday, May 21, at 9 p.m. EDT.

In another news, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the ratings for the second season of the police procedural drama increased as the season wraps up.

According to the report, the penultimate episode of the series saw a two-tenths increase in the ratings. This means that it recorded a 0.9 rating among the 19–49 age group.

The series was renewed for its third season in March 2017. In a statement by NBC president Jennifer Salke, she shares, "We're so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do, and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that Shades of Blue has so clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal. This show continues to mine powerful stories that always leave us hungry for more."
