A new smartphone game is set to arrive courtesy of Square Enix. The Japanese video game developer announced that they will be launching a free-to-play real-time card battle title called "Servant of Thrones."

Trying to get a slice of the mobile gaming market in Japan, Square Enix has launched several titles almost on a monthly basis. The upcoming game will be available for both Android and iOS users and will make its way to Japan this winter.

The developer also dropped a trailer for the game that features the theme song and showcases the vocal talents of Akio Otsuka, Tomokazu Sugita, Maya Uchida and Mamiko Noto among many others.

Pre-registration of "Servant of Thrones" is currently available on the official website.

Users get a chance to bag special awards depending on the number of people who pre-register for the game. For 200,000 pre-registered users, a player will be able to get 3,000 Emperor Stones, which is equivalent to 11 gatcha spins.

Square Enix first teased the project in May along with a closed beta. "Servant of Thrones" will feature a story mode made up of fully voiced actors aside from being able to play online and having stunning illustrations. The development team is made of notable illustrators like Yoshitaka Amano, Yuji Himukai, toi8 and Kim Hyung-tae.

"Servant of Thrones" is said to be attempting to gain shares in the mobile trading card game (TCG) genre, which is currently being lorded by "Hearthstone" from Blizzard Entertainment. The game has not only been a hit with the masses but with the critics as well.

In line with this, "Servant of Thrones'" aesthetic seems familiar and the mechanics are similar for those that have played "Hearthstone." Just like the trading card game from Blizzard, Square Enix's mobile game will have players pick one hero out of their seven cards to start the game.
