Rose McGowan gains social media popularity, ranked 10th in THR's Top Actor chart

The Harvey Weinstein controversy had stirred different reactions from celebrities. It had also propelled "Scream" actress Rose McGowan into social media fame.

The Hollywood Reporter's Top Actor listing contained the names of celebrities which were ranked based on popularity across social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and YouTube. The data was provided by MVP Index, and social media engagement and increase in followers and/or subscribers were factors in the rankings.

Most of the top spots were held by familiar celebrities, but one of the new entries to the chart was McGowan, who bagged 10th place, likely because she stirred netizens when she slammed "Ant-Man" actor Ben Affleck for his statement on the Weinstein scandal. Affleck previously released critical comments on the issues surrounding the film producer, who shot him to stardom with the 1997 movie "Good Will Hunting."

The former "Charmed" actress is among those who have shared their harassment stories against Weinstein. She has also been actively attacking several other actors, like Woody Allen, Matt Damon, and James Corden, amid the Weinstein scandal. However, her response to "Gone Girl" actor Affleck seems to have been the tweet that catapulted her to the tenth spot.

McGowan, like many others, responded negatively to Affleck's attempts at condemning Weinstein. She blasted Affleck on Twitter, ordering the latter to "fuck off." She then went on to say in another tweet that the multi-awarded actor had knowledge of Weinstein's wrongdoings against her, implying that he did nothing despite his awareness of the situation.

McGowan was later suspended for allegedly violating the social media platform's terms. In a statement released to The Guardian, Twitter said that it had temporarily suspended McGowan's account because one of her posts included a phone number, which was a violation of the platform's rules. The tweet has since been deleted and McGowan's account restored.

The other celebrities in THR's Top Actor list include Dwayne Johnson at the top spot, Blake Lively (2), Cara Delevingne (3), Jennifer Lopez (4), Kevin Hart (5), Vin Diesel (6), Shay Mitchell (7), Sophie Turner (8), and Vanessa Hudgens (9).
