'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, plot spoilers: What to expect

Rick and Morty Adult Swim

"Rick and Morty" season 2 aired their finale on Sunday, October 4 on Adult Swim. After following a whole season filled with fun and adventures between Morty and his alcoholic scientist grandfather, Rick, fans are just itching to know when the next season of the show will air.

The "Rick and Morty" season 2 finale, "The Wedding Squanchers," which was directed by Wes Archer and written by Tom Kauffman, saw the cast attending a wedding on planet Squanchy which they managed to ruin.

The finale reunited Rick and Morty with the Birdperson and Tammy during their wedding. Beth and Jerry were also in attendance which made the event more interesting. Though Rick wasn't entirely happy about attending the wedding, he was able to behave well all throughout the event. Unfortunately, things didn't last as happily as everyone, except Rick, has expected. Birdperson was betrayed by his newly wed wife which resulted in his death, while Squanchy died saving the Smiths.

Everything started falling apart from then on. The Smiths, stuck in a foreign place, are left to look for a place where they could live. Rick, realizing that he alone can fix the situation, gave himself up to the Federation.

This seemingly dark ending to a fun episode is really setting up a lot for "Morty and Rick" season 3. Weather Morty and his sister Summer will figure out a way to possibly save their grandpa or the Smiths survive their new set-up, all depends on how things will pan out in the next season.

Meanwhile, creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon expressed that nothing is final yet for season 3.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Roiland said, "I've been jotting ideas down, yeah. Nothing super fleshed out, but there are definitely little seeds."

Harmon has expressed, though, that he will make sure that Mr. Meeseeks become a part of season 3. He says, "I'm going to make that a personal promise to myself. I'm going to force Mr. Meeseeks into season three."

One thing is for sure though, "Rick and Morty" will return for season 3. This has been confirmed when Adult Swim renewed the series for a third season back in August. As to when exactly it would return? Fans can maybe get some hint from this clip "Rick and Morty" showed during the closing credits of the finale episode.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
