New details about the rumored OnePlus 5 smartphone are currently making rounds online.

Reports claim that the next-generation OnePlus smartphone will skip the number sequence after the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices since the number 4 is believed to be associated with death in the Chinese culture. So instead of naming its next product as such, it is moving forward to name the next smartphone as OnePlus 5.

A translated report based from the Chinese website PCPop mentions that some of the upcoming specs and features of the upcoming device are believed to be pitted against some of the leading smartphones in the market today, including the Samsung Galaxy S8, the iPhone 8, and the LG G6.

According to the report, the OnePlus 5 is rumored to come with an all-screen design complete with small bezels. It will also remove the usual physical home button and a rear fingerprint sensor, just like the rumored Samsung Galaxy S8.

Other speculations claim that the rumored OnePlus device will come with a 5.5-inch display screen with 2K resolution. It will also reportedly feature a 23-megapixel dual lens camera in the rear with optical zoom and optical image stabilization. It is also rumored to run using a 3,000 mAh battery.

Other reports also mention that the device might be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, a 64 GB storage, and OnePlus' own Oxygen OS based on the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. However, other sources mention that the device will be equipped with a 4,000 mAh Dash Charge battery instead of the rumored 3,000 mAh battery.

Since the Chinese telecommunications devices manufacturer does not have a release date pattern compared to other brands, it would be hard to speculate when the new device will be shipped in the market. But since the company has been consistent in releasing a new flagship product every year, it can be expected to see a new OnePlus smartphone before the end of 2017.
