Nexus 10 2: Google to push back launch to 2014? Will 10inch tablet line be phased out?

 PhonesArena

The Google Nexus 10 2 is now rumored to release in 2014 as there are still no signs of the tablet's release before the end of this year.

The latest rumor comes from the Las Vegas Guardian Express, which stated: "With Christmas just around the corner, it is unlikely that (the tablet) will be released beforehand. It is more likely that the Google Nexus 10 2 tablet's release will be pushed to 2014, if it even happens."

The holiday shopping season is in full swing and seeing as Google has not released the Nexus 10 2 before Black Friday this year, it is unlikely that they will launch the tablet to compete with other rivals such as Apple and Samsung.

The idea of a second-generation 10inch Nexus tablet may well indeed be scrapped altogether, as Google is also rumored to be working on an 8inch tablet instead. The new 8inch slate is in line with the popular Nexus 7 to compete with the smaller iPad Mini.

Last week, Android Origin reported that an unnamed Google exec said the Nexus 10 line will be discontinued after the current stock is sold out. (The 16GB version is already sold out on the Google Play store and the 32GB is expected to be out of stock soon.)

Features and specs for the purported Nexus 10 2 tablet includes a 10-inch 2650x1600 display with gorilla glass, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, 9500mAh battery, and a thinner and lighter design.

Google launched the Android 4.4.1 KitKat Update for its latest Nexus devices on Dec. 5. However, the update for the first generation Nexus 10 was left out, leaving fans to ponder the fate of the 10inch tablet.
