New Macbook Pro, Macbook Air 2013 Release Date at WWDC Event; Specs, features, retina rumors

An upgraded line of the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air are expected to launch at the upcoming WWDC 2013 event next week.

The new line of ultra portable Macbook Air notebooks may feature faster wi-f-, an updated Airport Extreme and Time Capsule wireless base stations.

Rumors surrounding the upgraded Retina Macbook Pro line is that it come with an even slimmer design and a full HD FaceTime camera.

The power laptops are most likely to come with the Intel Haswell Processor, which was launched earlier this week. The Haswell chip will significantly increase the battery life of the Retina notebooks.

The 2012 generation Macbook pros had packed Ivy Bridge processors.

Apple will not ditch the optical drive for the Macbook Pro as previously thought.

The new lineup is expected to ship by the end of Q2, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chu Kuo, who is known for accurately predicting release dates for Apple's highly anticipated products.

The WWDC event will take place June 10-14 in San Francisco. It is an annual conference for Apple developers and engineers to get an "in-depth look" at what's next in iOS and OS X, and to learn how to take apps to the next level.

The latest operating system, iOS 7 and OS X 10.9, will also launch at the end of the event.

For the past two operating systems, the iOS and iOS 5, Apple released its new OS at the end of their annual WWDC event.

The latest OS is slated to have a "flat" design, similar to the interface used for Windows 8 and Windows Phone. According to leaked photos, the design is set to feature bolder colors.

The previous Lock Screen for iOS 7 is also rumored to be replaced with a "shine-free, black interface."

New features will include integration with Flickr and Vimeo, and enhanced support for Maps and Siri.
