Roleplaying game (RPG) fans are in for a treat, as the remaster for RPG classic "Neverwinter Nights" now has a release date and will soon arrive on the PC.

Developer Beamdog, responsible for the remaster of original developer BioWare's game, has announced that "Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition" is to be released on Mar. 27. The game will be released on Steam and will be available only for the PC, which is unfortunate for some console owners who have been hoping to play the PC classic on their devices. The said announcement came from the developer's own livestream session.

However, Beamdog also discussed the possibility of bringing the remaster to the Nintendo Switch handheld console, meaning it could just be a matter of time and demand until they release the game there. The studio has no formal plans at the moment but finds the prospect appealing, which is positive news for Switch owners. For now, those who own Switch devices need only wait for official announcement, as well as how the PC sales do on release and beyond.

Per the said developer livestream, the game looks to be doing well as a remaster and has been updated accordingly to today's standards for graphics and sound. It still appears to retain its core gameplay as well as the simple user interface (UI) but now boasts dynamic lighting effects and widescreen compatibility.

The textures as well as specular maps and lighting for the game have also been updated and look fitting for today's high-resolution displays and powerful graphics processing units (GPUs), a much-needed update for the decade-and-a-half old game.

For those unfamiliar with the title, "Neverwinter Nights" was first released back in 2002 by BioWare, which is now a reputable RPG developer responsible for AAA masterpiece franchises such as "Mass Effect" and "Dragon Age." The game was also one of the best RPG experiences back in its heyday and is somewhat unparalleled in scope and design for some of its fans, hence the need for a remaster.
