'Modern Family' season 7 spoilers: Expect big changes

"Modern Family" is coming back for its seventh season on ABC, and according to showrunner David Levithan, fans can expect some big changes in some members of the Pritchett and Dunphy families, especially in Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winter), and Manny (Rico Rodriguez).

In previous seasons, Haley had been a typical surly teenager who took relationships lightly, but this time around, she's going to be more mature and she will start thinking about becoming more serious, especially in her romantic relationships.

"Haley is now an adult and interested in possibly pursuing a legitimate adult relationship," Levithan told Deadline

As for Manny, fans can expect to see a different side of him when the show returns this month. From being the silk shirt-wearing, sensitive kid in the pilot, this season's Manny will be driving a car and is "actually on the verge of being a sexual being."

Alex will be embarking on a new adventure as she'll be going to college.

"She's very happy in some ways to leave this family behind and get around people she thinks are more like her," said Levithan.

However, the showrunner also said that being away from her family won't be as easy as Alex thought it would be, and she will be unsure on how to express that loneliness. Meanwhile, Luke (Nolan Gould) will be having a "criminal streak" this season, which will cause him to become estranged from his father, Phil (Ty Burrell).

Jesse Tyler Ferguson also gave some choice spoilers about his character Mitch. He told the Huffington Post that Mitch quits his job as a lawyer, allowing Cam (Eric Stonestreet) to be the breadwinner of the family. Mitch contributes when he can as he has some odd jobs here and there, but Ferguson said that there's going to be some "growing pains" along the way.

Season 7 of "Modern Family" premieres on Sept. 23 on ABC.
