The wait is finally over as Microsoft officially released its new flagship Android phones.
Panos Panay, corporate vice president of Microsoft Surface and head of Microsoft Hardware Division, talked about the hardware of the new Lumia 950 and 950XL in his speech at the Microsoft Windows 10 device event. He said that the new phones have two antennas, which they refer to as adaptive antenna technology. It works by choosing the best possible connection for the Lumia phones allowing users to always stay connected. He also said that while both phones utilizes the latest Qualcomm technology of the Surface which is liquid cooling, the Lumia 950 runs on a Hexacore processor while the Lumia 950XL uses an Octacore processor. This technology allows the phones to make use of Windows 10.
Panay also discussed the other specs of the phones. He said that the Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch display, while the Lumia 950XL has 5.7-inch display. Both uses OLED screens and deliver great looking images at 564PPI and 518PPI. He also talked about the glance screen technology in the Lumia which allows the user to just look at his phone and see the information displayed on it without touching anything.
Panay boasted of the Lumia 950 and 950XL's cameras which has a 20 megapixel sensor that responds well in low lighted conditions. The triple LED RGB Natural Flash at the back not just eliminates red-eye in pictures but makes it look more alive. It also has a 5th generation optical image stabilizer that takes pictures without the blur even if you or your subject is moving. It also has a dedicated camera button that makes taking photos easier with just a press of a button.
The phone has a built-in 32GB of memory which can be extended up to 200GB with a memory card and uses a USB-C connector that is able to quick charge the phone with 50 percent batter power in just 30 minutes. You can even use an external monitor with your phone with a USB-C connected to a Microsoft Display Dock that enables you to use your phone like you would a Windows 10 PC.
