Television audiences will soon have mermaids in their midst. Freeform just dropped an extended trailer for their newest series "Siren" at New York Comic Con last weekend.

The show will tell the story of Ryn, played by Eline Powell, an enigmatic girl who appears in Bristol Cove, a town known as the original abode of mermaids that has transformed into a cheesy mermaid-centric tourist spot.

The extended trailer comes after the network released the first one last April, offering a better peek at how the series will lay out is storyline focusing on mermaids.

Viewers can see Ryn waking up in a deserted marine vessel, and clearly examining her feet. After which, the girl eats a rat and walks with no shoes going in the direction of Bristol Cove. Ryn explore the storefronts of the picturesque seaside town until she gets noticed by one of the shopkeepers who seems to know that she is a mermaid.

Judging from the extended trailer, it seems that "Siren" will take a darker tone in its storytelling compared to other mermaid-themed projects like the "The Little Mermaid" or "Splash," a comedy film directed by Ron Howard in 1984.

Powell's portrayal of Ryn almost comes across as extraterrestrial-like. It is a unique approach for the show to take, and it may help in getting to know and understanding Ryn's character and what role she'll play throughout the first season.

According to the description from Freeform, Ryn "begins wreaking havoc upon the small fishing town. Using their resources, marine biologists Ben [Alex Roe] and Maddie [Fola Evans-Akingbola] must work together to find out who and what drove this primal hunter of the deep sea to the land and are there more like her out there?"

"Siren" will make its premiere on Thursday, March 29, 2018, 8 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
