Mavericks release date October 22 with new Macbook Pro 2013: New launch rumors

A new rumor points to an Apple iPad media event on October 22, 2013. According to AllthingsD, Apple will hold the invitation-only event later in the month, where they will launch the new iPad 5, iPad Mini 2, and new Haswell-packed Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks.

The official release of Apple's latest Mac operating system – the OS X Mavericks – is imminent as the company launched the 10. 9. Golden Master version on October 3, 2013.

The Golden Master version is the final version to be released to developers before the operating system is officially rolled out to consumers by the end of this month.

The Golden Master build of Xcode 5.0.1, which developers can use to build Mavericks apps, was also made available last week.

The OS X Mavericks may be released to the public shortly after Apple's purported media event on October 22, 2013. The event is slated to host the new iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, along with the upgraded Macbook Pros and Macbook Pro with Retina Display.

Apple has reportedly begun training its staff members last week on using the new operating, according to a report by 9to5 Mac. Apple staff members are being with the new features of the operating system, including the installation process and troubleshooting options. The training is being held in small batches for Apple Care staff, in an effort to avoid leaks before the official launch.

Apple's latest version of the Mac operating system was first introduced at Apple's WWDC event in June this year. Since then, eight Developer Previews of OS X Mavericks have been released to developers.

New features for the latest OS X include a new Maps app, a tabbed finder, iBooks, new look to the calendar, improved Safari, iCloud Keychain, multiple displays and more. See Apple's preview of the new features here.

The final version of the Mavericks OS X is expected some time in fall, possibly by the end of October.

Last year, the Mountain Lion OS X released on July 25, 2012 for $19.99. The previous year, Apple charged $29.99 to upgrade to OS X Lion.

Although the iOS 7 upgrade was offered free for iDevice users this year, it is likely that Apple will charge for the OS X upgrade as in previous years.

The new operating system is likely launch preinstalled with the latest version of Macbook Pros and Macbook Pro with Retina Display.
