Freeform recently released the first trailer for the upcoming "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger" TV series.
The promo clip for the new TV series, which is set to premiere in 2018, has been dropped earlier to allow fans to have a first look at the superhero sci-fi teen drama starring Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak.
According to reports, the upcoming TV series will center on the coming-of-age story of the two characters who hailed from totally opposite backgrounds. However, both Tandy and Tyrone grew up with a major secret that they both tried to keep hidden.
When the two meet, they find themselves falling in love with each other. They also realize that the powers that they have acquired could actually work better whenever they are together. However, their romantic relationship could reportedly make their challenging world even more complicated.
Compared to other superheroes who fight against their equally powerful villains, though, the teenage duo will devote their time fighting drugs and crime in their city.
Marvel also announced in February that the series will also star Andrea Roth as Tandy's cheerful mother Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Tyrone's hardworking mother Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Tyrone's working class father Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Tandy's crime partner and boyfriend Liam, Bernard Sanjo as Tyrone's friend James Saito, and J.D. Evermore as the mysterious detective named Connors.
The upcoming series will be the very first Marvel Television collaboration with Freeform. In a press statement that was also posted on Marvel's website, Freeform Programming and Development executive vice president Karey Burke said: "We are incredibly excited to be underway on our first Marvel project with such a talented group of actors that really enhance the world that our Cloak & Dagger live in."
