Lamar Odom health update: NBA star transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in LA

Lamar Odom was discharged from the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas on Monday, Oct. 19, after the former NBA player regained consciousness on Friday following his accidental overdose last week. According to reports, Odom was transported via helicopter to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles for further treatment.

Us Weekly reports that Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, was with him during the flight from Las Vegas to L.A. An insider told the magazine last Monday that the 35-year old was "getting better little by little" and that Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner, was the one who arranged Odom's transfer to the L.A. hospital so that "they can all be closer to him."

It has been reported that Kardashian has never left Odom's side since he was hospitalized last Oct. 13. As confirmed by Us Weekly last week, the two are still legally married since a judge has yet to approve their divorce documents. It is said that the reality star has been making medical decisions for Odom since he was taken to Sunrise Hospital.

It was also reported that since Odom came out of his medically induced coma last Friday, the star has spoken to his ex-wife and that he was reportedly able to sit with some assistance. Though the former NBA player is believed to be recovering, a source told Us Weekly that Odom is still "really, really sick."

"There are a million things they're doing to him still. He's not doing well. He's talking a little bit, but not full sentences," said the insider.

Kardashian has also released her first official statement since Odom was hospitalized. The statement was posted on Kardashian's website earlier this week.

"The past week has been difficult," her statement began. The reality star went on and said that she was thankful for her family, friends, and fans who have sent prayers and well wishes to Odom, and she also thanked the staff at Sunrise Hospital.

"You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure," she continued. "Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!"
